PRODUCTION MANAGER (ENGINEERING BACKGROUND REQUIRED): COMPETITIVE SALARY £55-58k BASIC WITH GOOD BENEFITS AND POTENTIAL FOR FUTURE PROGRESSION. LARGE MULTINATIONAL COMPANY UNDERGOING A PERIOD OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.

The Client

Our client is part of a huge multinational company with operations and offices all over the world, with an innovative and high technology range of products. As part of their continued growth they are presently seeking a Production Manager for one of their North West sites. Our client is looking for a Production / Manufacturing Manager who understands people and machines so with an engineering qualifications, ideally in mechancial or possibly electrical engineering.

The Role

-Manage day-to-day plant operation to meet output targets at agreed quality and cost
-Line manager for shift manufacturing and warehouse teams
-Develop operating procedures and working practices in line with safety legislation, business needs and quality standards.
-Develop and deliver individual and team development and succession plans in line with business needs
-Responsible for driving continuous improvement activities (Lean etc.)
-Deputise for Plant Manager when required
-Management of day-to-day SHE issues
-Contribute to loss accounting processes and management, ensuring that all losses are investigated, key learning points shared across the organisation and resulting improvement work implemented effectively.
-Own and develop manufacturing performance measures. Ensure that data is displayed appropriately and trends acted on.
-Manage continuous improvement activities and other projects in conjunction with the other members of the manufacturing management team (e.g. projects, FMEA).
-Support other organisational functions when necessary.

The Person

The Production manager must be a hands-on individual with an ability to drive forward improvement activities, whilst maintaining a positive working atmosphere across the manufacturing operation. The main areas of responsibility are day-to-day manufacturing and management of operational safety.

The individual will play a leading role in the development of the sites manufacturing operations, working closely with the engineering and technical functions to ensure that this happens as effectively as possible.

Skills & Experience Required

-5+ Years Production Management experience from a Manufacturing environment (Chemical, Pharma, Automotive etc.)
-Strong influencing and people management skills
-Engineering background essential
-Experience of driving continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, Kaizen etc.
-Degree in Business or Engineering preferred, can be substituted for strong relevant experience
-Driven, motivated and self motivated
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
