MULTI SKILLED MAINTENANCE ENGINEERS / TECHNICIANS (MANCHESTER): WORLD LEADING, PRESTIGE BRAND AND BUSINESS IN THE FOOD & DRINK INDUSTRY. EXCEPTIONAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND ROLE, OPPORTUNITY NOT TO BE MISSED. CIRCA £25 PER HOUR, INITIAL 3 MONTH CONTRACT - POTENTIAL TO PERMANENT IF CANDIDATE IS INTERESTED AND PERFORMS WELL IN THE ROLE.

The Client

Our client is one of the biggest names in the world food & drink industry, and an instantly recognisable brand and product. They are a prestige company offering a fantastic place to work and significant opportunities for personal and professional career development. Due to the continued development and significant investment in their Manchester plant, we are looking for additional maintenance technicians with either electrical bias or mechanically trained with strong electrical skills to work for our client on an initial contract basis.

The Role

  • Utilise and apply safe systems of working and pro-actively seek opportunities to improve work environment using continuous improvement,  Examples of these include Risk Assessments, Positive Intervention, Safety Tags, Near Misses and 5S. 

  • Demonstrate passion for quality by ensuring all interventions meet our robust quality standards to ensure the highest standards of product quality.

  • Demonstrate ownership and active involvement in optimising our workplace carrying out proactive maintenance, responding to defects, losses and breakdowns, assessing and monitoring plant and process performance on an ongoing basis. Then work to sustain and improving these standards and standards set by others using our TPM Methodology

  • To fully understand the operating principles of the processes/machines you repair & maintain. Using this underpinning and process knowledge to strive for loss eradication by leading and owning root cause failures analysis and/loss eradication then developing and implementing countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Perform creation and validation of C.I.L.T (cleaning, inspection, lubrication and tightening) standards. Coaching operators in CILT execution. Continually seeking improvement opportunities to eliminate sources of dirt and accelerated deterioration, recording, restoring and solving abnormalities using the anomaly tagging process. 

  • Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal, constructively contributing to DCS (Daily Control System)  meetings, shift handovers, team meetings, training, STAR reviews, countermeasure implementation, TPM team activity and general team involvement.Ability to communicate 1 down 2 up and horizontally.

  • Able to supervise external suppliers, able to coach operators to carry out AM tasks and support managers and operators on asset issues and subsequent decision making.

  • Understands and contributes to improving the financial impact of operational performance by minimising raw material and product loss and efficiency losses.

  • Demonstrate flexibility, initiative and organisational skills to meet team and organisational objectives and also be able to apply a logical approach when fixing machine issues which is structured.

  • In the absence of your line manager you are capable of working unsupervised and adopt a professional approach to lead decision making based on sound logic amongst your peer group.

  • You are accountable for working with your Line Manager to develop and complete a continual Personal Development Plan. Learning new skills and developing existing skills is a fundamental requirement of all employees.

The Person

  • FMCG  / Food  / Drink production experience in a blue chip company in a safety conscious environment.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge / experience (TPM preferred)
  • PLC experience
  • HNC / HND or higher in Engineering Discipline (electrical bias) or strong relevant experience in lieu
  • Excellent Communicator
  • Proactive, enthusiastic personality
  • Confident, driven and motivated
