The Client

Our client is quite simply a world leader in engineering, development and service to the Defence, Electronics and Communications industries. With a presence in over 200 countries around the globe and nearly 50,000 employees worldwide they are at the leading edge of technology in their fields. They have recently made significant inroads into the secure communications field, and are looking for a senior sales manager to help push this division forward. With their outstanding technical capability and resources they are primed to become a major player in the field.

Overview

This division provides services and solutions to support National Governments and commercial organisations that form our critical national infrastructure, in dealing with modern and evolving threats to well-being, security and public safety. Having recently been awarded significant contracts from the Home Office they are committed to increase activities in the UK Security Sector (Home Office, Blue Lights and Border Force). They are looking to recruit a Senior Sales Manager to lead Homeland security sales in the UK and manage key accounts in this space (UK Home office, Police forces and emergency responders, Border Force). To succeed you'll need to be a dynamic and driven experienced senior sales manager who can deliver ambitious growth targets. Successful candidates will also be required to develop, own and deliver key bids and manage key accounts, reporting to the Head of Sales and working across functional disciplines and particularly closely with the operations team and the VP Homeland Security and Critical National Infrastructures Line of Business. He will lead campaigns and sales opportunities in the security, Government and CNI markets to deliver order intake targets.

Job Description

He/She will lead campaigns and sales opportunities in the security, Government and CNI markets to deliver order intake targets. As they continue to successfully grow their business within this market they require a sales leader that can target opportunities ranging from £5M to £100M, either working directly with the end customer, into other primes or within consortia. With an absolute focus on winning, the sales manager will be expected to develop and implement strategies to maximise return on investment. Ability to work across the company to understand and promote wider capabilities is also essential.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Present & create key relationships in core customer communities, primarily Home Office & Border Force.
  • Deliver order intake targets.
  • Drive deal structure and commercial offers.
  • Lead multi-functional bid teams from suspect through to order closure and further into account development.
  • Support to key marketing events link to nominated sales campaigns.
  • Represent the company in front of customers and other industry in support of key campaigns.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required

  • Relationship development and management
  • Demonstrable experience of exploiting and developing sales opportunities within the Homeland Security focused areas, specifically Border Force & Home Office.
  • Confident networker and presenter, excellent contacts and reputation across the customer and industry base.

Key experience

  • Track record in creating opportunities, building a pipeline, closing sales in a completive environment, and building long term customer relationships that drive benefit into company.   
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen and ability to make and deliver forecasts to hit budget targets.                
  • Policing / Security background in UK and International markets would be advantageous, together with solid understanding of the underlying technologies and architectures and client mission/business goals.
  • Technical qualification / background in electronics / communications engineering
