The Client

Our client is part of a huge multinational company with operations and offices all over the world, with an innovative and high technology range of products. As part of their continued growth they are presently seeking a high class individual to manage their quality function and drive WCM.

The Role
This key new person will be responsible for the organisation, management and control of Quality systems and Processes, as well as the technical support of the Quality Assurance function to ensure the maintenance and enhancement of the product and processing performance of the business. They will also be responsible for leading and driving continuous improvement using World Class Manufacturing principles in support of meeting financial, business and leadership developmental goals. These goals include lead time reduction, improvement to inventory turns, improvement to utilization and efficiency, and increased organizational flexibility.


-Ensure Quality principles and procedures are applied and delivered safely.
-Ensure concerns are fully investigated and corrective / preventive actions are implemented using recognised problem solving techniques.
-Process FMEAs are established, maintained and updated.
-Implement SPC techniques to key process parameters. 
-Manage the customer qualification process. 
-Quality activities are carried out by appropriately trained and competent people. 
-Ensure full Quality records are available. 
-Feedback to production of product quality issues and trends. 
-Ensure non-conforming product control procedures are applied. 
-Ensure routine and additional product audits are carried. 
-Attend customer premises to assess nature of quality issues, agree resolution and ensure effective concern feedback to customer.
-Assists in developing, maintaining and communicating the Vision and Strategy for implementation of comprehensive WCM systems with focus on driving continuous improvement that ensures production volume, cost and quality to support Five Year Strategic Forecast.
-Sets expectations for lean organization/culture.
-Leads direction and focus to ensure comprehensive understanding and implementation of TPM (Autonomous Maintenance & Planned Maintenance) manufacturing concepts that delivers quantifiable benefits.
-Leads the deployment of WCM initiatives across the entire organization including value streams, improved flow, 5S, visual factory, SMED and other Lean tools and principles in an effort to impact the customer and business metrics.
-Works with Operations Manager to formulate short and longer-term asset/resource strategy to meet business goals as guided by WCM principles. Participates in project identification/selection, assuring linkage between projects and business and customer priorities.
-Implement pull processes between manufacturing processes, distribution and the supply chain.
-Ensure sustainability and improvement to inventory turns.
-Direct leadership of a team of Manufacturing, Quality, and Process Engineers. Train and coach process owners, champions, process improvement leaders, and project teams in the use of improvement tools and methodology to ensure timely completion of projects.
-Works directly on target focused improvement projects that are critical for the site.
-Establish prioritization of projects that will deliver best possible financial impacts and provide timely and accurate input to annual budgets and forecasts.
-Create processes and metrics to track the performance of lean activities and ensure sustainability.
-Support projects such as reducing operating costs through cost reduction, improved process control, machine reliability, machine set-up times and introducing new products and processes.
-Identify gaps in performance against Best in Class and lead improvement initiatives that close said gaps as it relates to service level performance, inventory turns improvement, and labour productivity results.

The Person 

Skills & Experience Required

-Detailed experience and understanding of the automotive industry
-A working knowledge of quality systems e.g. TS16949 / ISO9000. 
-Application of FMEAs, control plans. 
-Implementation and use of SPC techniques. 
-Knowledge of approval processes such as PPAP & APQP. 
-Knowledge of problem solving techniques and experience in leading problem solving teams. 
-Technical knowledge and experience of production capability manufacturing processes, fault detection and rectification, quality and process control in a customer focused environment. 
-Experience of driving continuous improvement techniques such as Lean, Kaizen etc.
-Project Management experience - APM or PMI preferred
-Degree in Business or Engineering preferred, can be substituted for strong relevant experience
-Driven, motivated and self motivated
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
